    Primary KS1 and KS2 English, like Maths and Science, is a compulsory national curriculum based subject and is also referred to has Literacy. Children are introduced to writing, reading and spelling when they start school. KS3 English is the next stage up and pupils of ages 11-14 are taught this. This broadens the fundamentals taught at earlier years.

    Personal teaching is found to improve grades for KS4 / GCSE English or A-Level English, Scottish Standard Grade and Higher Grade English.
