Price and Range:
My prices range from �45 an hour to �70 an hour depending on the length of the tutoring session and the type of marking feedback that a student requires.

Personal Information:
I began teaching in 1998 and taught English Language and Literature in five schools to students aged 11-18. I have worked with all the examination boards at GCSE and A Level; I have also taught IB Literature and worked as an examiner. Having been a Head of English, I returned to university in 2022 for my MA in Literary Studies and I am now working on my PhD alongside my professional practice as a tutor.

Teaching has always been my great love and working with students remains a joy and a privilege. Being back in education as a mature student has enabled me to experience evolving teaching methods; it has also given me an exceptional opportunity to review strategies for improving students' progress, and to consider obstacles to learning and techniques for addressing them.

My tutoring style is warm and informal and I combine excellent subject knowledge with a deep commitment to students' individual needs and learning preferences. I work closely with schools, families and caregivers and I have extensive experience in meeting the needs of students with special educational needs, with English as an Additional Language, and with gifted and talented students.

I work online and in person with UK and overseas students. Students are welcome to visit my home classroom in the Lake District and I also travel to work with local students in their own homes. Most of my tutoring sessions are an hour in length and my fees include a follow-up email and additional resources to support a student's independent learning between sessions. I also provide verbal and / or written feedback on essays and written work, and I offer both short-term revision support and long-term tutoring that follows the school year. I deliver summer revision sessions, and subject-specific support for home school students. I also work with students who need to catch up on learning time after periods of disruption to their education, often as a result of a health crisis.
